Andrew Mitchell, Trombone
Assistant Professor of Music Performance at Ball State University, Andrew Mitchell has appeared as a soloist and clinician throughout the United States and Europe. In his native Michigan, Dr. Mitchell has performed with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, the Detroit Chamber Winds and Strings, the Michigan Opera Theatre Orchestra, the Motor City Brass Quintet, and the Brass Band of Battle Creek. He is Principal Trombone of the Saginaw Bay Symphony Orchestra, the Midland Symphony Orchestra (MI), and the Muncie Symphony Orchestra (IN), previously holding positions in the Sinfonia Gulf Coast (FL), and the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. He has taught at Florida State University, and the University of Michigan, where he earned the Doctor of Musical Arts degree. His principal teachers were Kenneth Thompkins, Dr. Steve Wolfinbarger, Dr. John Drew, Peter Ellefson, and David Jackson.
