For those participating in either the opera mainstage or second session chamber music seminar, the Adrian Boyer competition sponsored by the Bay View Music Festival offers the winners of the vocal and instrumental divisions the opportunity to perform with the Bay View Chamber Orchestra. In addition cash prizes will be awarded to the winners in both divisions.
Performance time is limited to 10 minutes. It is permissible to audition with, and perform, a single movement of a longer work. It is imperative that students select repertoire that does not exceed pairs of woodwinds, pairs of horns and trumpets, one percussionist and a small string ensemble.
Works of a larger orchestration will be disqualified. You must have your work approved before June 1st.
A $20 fee will be assessed of each competition participant which goes directly to the accompanist for your audition. The competition will be held in John M. Hall Auditorium. One winner will be chosen in each of the instrumental and vocal areas.
